I'm a product designer that loves solving the right user problem by applying innovative ideas & solutions. I voice for the needs of the user whilst balancing the goals & intents of the business.

About Me

I am an experienced designer with a background in health and financial industries. I have over 8 years of experience in designing for web and mobile, having worked with companies such as Shopify and adidas.

You'll find me confidently working at every step of the design process such as getting involved in research, creating user flows, creating high fidelity designs and supporting developers during hand-off. I love focusing on driving deep collaboration, strategic thinking and building and evolving design systems as part of my role.

Personally, I am a friendly, enthusiastic designer with the ambition and dedication to always learn new skills, move fast & try something new.

My Design Process

1.

Define The Problem

As Charles Kettering once said “A problem well stated is a problem half-solved.” At this stage before doing anything else I find it crucial to clearly define what’s the problem and what do we aim to achieve in this project. In my experience it’s a stage easily missed in the haste things but one that is critical to the projects success.

2.

Collecting Research

As a key component to ensuring the problem we're trying to solve is in fact the right one and refined enough to ensure success, research is a important part of my design process. With experience conducting and also supporting many varieties of research tasks into both people and problems.

3.

Brainstorm

Once I feel confident I have the right amount of research and information to tackle the problem then Brainstorming is next. Depending on the size and importance of the issue, brainstorming can be anything from a series of quick sketches to a week long design sprint.

I find Brainstorming an important way to bridge the gap between designers and other stakeholders. No matter who’s in the room, good ideas always manifest and allow the rest of the team to feel more involved in the design process.

4.

Create Solutions

At this stage, I take the preliminary ideas from Brainstorming to a more final form, usually with mid-high fidelity designs or a prototype for more complex functionality. Typically, multiple versions are created and these are narrowed down to the final variant after feedback and testing.

5.

Test and Get Feedback

Here I find out if what’s been done actually solves the issue we’re hoping to address at the start of the process. This is usually done through testing on users or setting the right metrics but most commonly it's a mixture of the two.

6.

Improve

All the learnings that are gathered from the test and feedback stages are reflected upon and the learnings are then reapplied to the product in this continuous do - test - learn cycle.

Empathy

Whilst it’s common to list empathy or understanding as one of the first points I instead make a conscious effort to avoid this. Instead treating empathy as a underlying requirement at every one of the product design phases.
